Newport Wetlands and Goldcliff
7 November @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pmFree
Meeting at the RSPB Newport Wetlands car park at 9.30am Grid Ref. 834.335. Following a brief visit to the RSPB managed Visitor’s Centre we will walk around the extensive reed bed area. Part of the circular walk overlooks the Severn Estuary, the mouth of the smaller R.Usk is seen looking towards the city. Cetti’s Warblers are often heard, Reed Buntings often seen, Bearded Tits occasionally. Picnic area – a convenient area to have our lunches and add birds at the feeders to our list. We will then drive 2.5 miles to Goldcliff parking on the grass verge on the Common. We will then walk to the Goldcliff Reserve as directed by wooden public footpath sign on the roadside. There are hides overlooking the reserve – it’s an excellent site for waders and there’s always something nice to see.
