Spurn Migfest 21
10 September @ 8:00 am - 13 September @ 5:00 pmFree
Leader: Simon Ashley
Repeating the popular succesful trip from 2019, I’m organising a return trip to Spurn Bird Observatory’s Migration festival. It runs over the weekend of 11/12th September. The festival is a bird event run by birders for birders, it’s a logistical miracle. With heaps of volunteers, a programme of expert led walks and a shuttle service around the Pennisula and birding hotspots. From memory, we saw well in excess of 110 species, complimented by ringing sessions, sea watches . In short everything you could possibly want.
As it’s such a long way to go we plan to leave early on Friday morning – breaking up the journey with a stop somewhere on the way. (RSPB Langford, Attenborough Reserve (both in Nottinghamshire) or Blacktoft Sands RSPB). We’ll Return on Monday 13th September.
- Migration Festival Tickets – go sale 24th May
- Accommodation Approx £20-£30 per/night
- Split petrol Costs Approx £30 per person
With such a long way to go finding enough drivers and spaces in cars is going to be the logistical challenge – and whilst I’ll do my best to match people up but I can’t promise it’ll work for everyone. Also from previous experience last time there were quite different budgets that people had for accommodation, whilst I’m quite happy in a cheap and cheerful caravan but appreciate this won’t suit all. What does work best though is where cars and accommodation match, people who drive together stay together, otherwise it becomes difficult to pick up and drop-off each day. If you sign up below I’ll do my best to match everyone.
